No. Several of our piano teachers specialize in working with beginners, including young children who have never touched a keyboard before. More advanced students can find teachers who focus on composition, theory, or performance preparation.

We typically recommend starting around age 5 or 6, though some of our teachers have experience working with younger learners who do well with a little extra support from a parent. We also teach teens and adults.

Lessons take place live over Zoom with a professional instructor. Your child gets real-time feedback and personalized practice goals. Teachers use screen sharing and annotation tools to mark up sheet music, and many position their camera so students can see their hands on the keyboard during demonstrations.

A keyboard or digital piano works well for getting started. It doesn't need to be expensive. If you're not sure what setup you need, your teacher can help you figure out the best option during your trial lesson.
