Hi! I'm Andre, a guitarist, bassist, and music educator with over 35 years of performance experience and nearly 20 years of teaching.

I've spent my career exploring every corner of the string instrument world. I've performed experimental solo guitar shows, played bass in children's rock bands, worked with jazz ensembles, and contributed to Hollywood film soundtracks. I've played at Disney Hall and the New York Guitar Festival, worked alongside artists like David Torn, Kronos Quartet, and Terry Riley, and my music has been featured on WNYC's New Sounds radio and in publications like Guitar Player and Mojo.

All of that experience comes into the lesson room. One thing my students really enjoy is that I can transcribe almost anything by ear on the spot. If you're obsessed with a song and want to learn it, we'll break it down together and make it yours.

What to Expect

Lessons revolve around your goals and your pace. Whether you're a complete beginner picking up your first ukulele, diving into advanced jazz guitar, or learning bass lines that make people move, we'll find what excites you and build from there.

We'll work on building strong, healthy technique from day one so you develop habits that serve you for life. We'll explore whatever genres light you up, practice improvisation and ear training, and work on performance skills that build genuine confidence. For guitar students, that could mean anything from fingerpicking to shredding. Bass students will develop their sense of groove and rhythm. Ukulele students will discover how versatile a four-string instrument can be.

A Bit More About Me

I hold a B.F.A. in Guitar and have performed at venues and festivals across the country, including the New York Guitar Festival in 2004 and 2006 and Disney Hall in 2009. I've been interviewed on WNYC's New Sounds and my work has appeared in Guitar Player, Mojo, and Alternative Press.

But some of my favorite musical moments happen in lessons, when a student finally nails something they've been working on or surprises themselves by improvising something completely their own. My students tend to stick with me year after year, and I think that's because they know I care about their progress as much as they do.
