Hi, I'm Camille! I'm a music educator who believes every child deserves a workaround.
I teach online piano lessons, voice lessons, and percussion lessons from my home in Cape Town, South Africa. My background across multiple instruments helps me understand how music works from different angles, which makes me a better teacher no matter which instrument your child chooses.
My Approach
Every student learns differently, and I've built my teaching around that. Some kids thrive with method books and the satisfaction of turning to the next page. Others need games, composition projects, or a few weeks learning every song from Frozen. I follow what works.
I use a framework called Universal Design for Learning, which basically means offering multiple paths to the same goal. It takes more upfront work than following a single curriculum, but it means your child gets an approach that actually fits how they learn.
Who I Work With
Since joining Maestro Music in 2022, I've worked with homeschool families looking for something different. That includes reluctant learners, neurodivergent students, and kids who didn't click with traditional music lessons.
Background & Experience
I hold a Master's in Conducting from UC Santa Cruz, where I studied choral and orchestral conducting. I've taught at Cabrillo, Gavilan, and Hartnell Community Colleges, as well as programs like Santa Cruz El Sistema and Music for Minors. I've also worked with All Saints' Day School, York School, and numerous other schools and community programs over the years.
Outside of teaching, I conduct a choir here in Cape Town and continue to perform. I started piano at age four and have been playing and teaching ever since.
