Hi, I'm Chase! I'm a professional musician, composer, and experimenter of all things self-expression.
I've performed on cruise ships from Antarctica to Iceland, studied composition in Vienna, and written pieces premiered on stages around the world. What that means for your child is that I bring a wide range of real-world experience into every lesson. Whether they're drawn to performance, composition, playing multiple instruments, or a little bit of everything, I can meet them where they are and help them find the part of music that feels like theirs.
With over 16 years of teaching experience, from private lessons to university classrooms, my approach comes down to this: I want students to stop practicing for the teacher and start practicing for themselves. Whether you're into pop, classical, jazz, or video game soundtracks, we'll build your skills around the music that actually matters to you.
What to Expect
Every lesson is tailored to your goals. I keep things structured enough to build solid technique but flexible enough to follow your curiosity. In our time together, we might:
- Build your vocal, piano, or trumpet technique in whatever style speaks to you
- Write and arrange your own original music
- Explore music theory through songs you actually love
- Prepare for auditions, recitals, or a recording project you've been dreaming about
- Strengthen your ear training, improvisation, or stage confidence
I want you to feel free to experiment. If something doesn't click one way, we find another way in.
A Bit About Me
I hold a master's in composition and theory plus a dual bachelor's in vocal performance and music education. I've taught at CSU Fullerton and Saddleback College, and as a composer I've written for ensembles like PHACE and Eclipse Quartet, with pieces premiered in Vienna, São Paulo, and Los Angeles. I also created a multimedia show called I'm Not a Robot! that blends music, storytelling, and technology.
But my favorite moments happen in lessons, when a student realizes they can figure things out on their own.
