Hi, I'm Reese!
I've been playing drums for over 40 years, starting when I was little and banging on whatever I could find around the house growing up on the south side of Chicago.
I'm a professional drummer and producer. I've performed at South By Southwest, Lincoln Center, and The Apollo Theater, and I've recorded and toured internationally through Italy with jazz singer Amalia Gre', across London and Spain with rock band Pagoda, and through Ivory Coast, West Africa with my World Roots ensemble, Brown Rice Family.
I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Film and Video Production from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, where I developed a creative range across writing, directing, and acting in independent film projects.
What to Expect
Drum lessons with me are shaped by more than four decades of real-world performance and over 23 years of facilitated rhythm workshops.
Those workshops have reached children and adults of all ages, hospital patients, and individuals with a wide range of clinical and special needs. I've learned how to meet students exactly where they are.
Lessons with me might cover drum-set fundamentals, rhythmic theory, and other forms of rhythmic self-expression, based on whatever the student in front of me needs.
A Bit More About Me
Alongside my performing and recording career, I lead private clinics and stay deeply involved in community arts. My work spans continents, genres, and contexts, from international jazz tours to rock recordings to West African-influenced ensemble work.
I'm fully devoted to growing as an artist and a facilitator, and I bring that same commitment to every student I work with.
