Hi! I’m Kevin — a lifelong musician, published music theorist, and passionate educator who’s all about helping you fall in love with playing guitar or ukulele.
With over a decade of teaching experience, I’ve worked with students of all ages and skill levels — and once we start lessons together, most of my students stick with me for years. Why? Because I believe music should feel like an exciting collaboration, not a chore.
My Background
In 2020, I earned my dual degree in Jazz Guitar Performance and Music Education from The New School for Jazz. Since then, I’ve performed with legends like Rodney Jones, Buster Williams, Dickey Betts, Gregg Allman, and Matthew Shipp.
In 2023, I published my first music theory book, Outside Sounds and Substitutions for Modern Jazz Guitar with Mel Bay — a major honor and milestone in my career.
My Teaching Philosophy
I see every lesson as a conversation. Whether you're a brand-new beginner or a budding musician ready to level up, we’ll build your skills together — with curiosity, confidence, and a clear path forward.
What I focus on:
-
Personalized learning plans that match your pace and musical interests
-
Creative collaboration, where you’re an active partner in your learning
-
Technique + theory, so you understand why things sound good — not just how to play them
-
Keeping it fun and encouraging, always!
My ultimate goal is to pass down the knowledge I’ve learned from my mentors and heroes — while helping you become your own kind of musician.
Whether you dream of jamming with friends, writing your own songs, or mastering jazz improvisation, I’d be honored to be your guide.
Let's get started on your musical journey!
