Hi! I'm Andre — a lifelong guitarist, music educator, and mentor passionate about helping students of all ages discover their sound.

With over 35 years of experience playing guitar and nearly 20 years teaching private lessons, I’ve worked with hundreds of students — from complete beginners to advanced musicians — helping each one build confidence, creativity, and technique.

Professional Experience

My musical journey has taken me everywhere — from solo experimental shows to children’s rock bands, jazz ensembles, and film soundtracks. I've performed at venues like Disney Hall and the New York Guitar Festival, and collaborated with musicians like David Torn, Kronos Quartet, and Terry Riley.

You might’ve also heard my work in Hollywood film scores or caught me on WNYC’s New Sounds radio, and my music has been featured in Guitar Player, Mojo, and Alternative Press. Some of my professional accomplishments include:

  • Performing at the New York Guitar Festival in 2004 and 2006, and Disney Hall in 2009
  • Playing on the original soundtracks to several Hollywood films
  • Performing on, and being interviewed for, WNYC radio's New Sounds program
  • Being covered in publications including Guitar Player, Mojo, Alternative Press, and Tape Op.

What My Lessons Are Like

Whether you're picking up the guitar for the first time or diving deeper into jazz, rock, classical, or songwriting, my lessons are built around your interests and pace. My teaching philosophy is simple:

If you could already do it all, you wouldn’t need lessons — and that’s okay!

In our lessons, you’ll:

  • Build solid technique (and fix any habits early)

  • Explore your favorite genres

  • Practice improvisation, ear training, and performance

  • Get personalized feedback every step of the way

One of my favorite parts of teaching is helping students learn the songs they actually want to play. I'm quick at transcribing music by ear during lessons — so whether it's Taylor Swift, Metallica, or a soundtrack from your favorite video game, we can break it down together and make it yours.

I believe every challenge is an opportunity — and I’m here to help you enjoy the process.
